Top Down, Summer In the City

June 27, 2012

Yesterday, the rains cleared just in time to enjoy a perfect summer night in Portland. Dozens of fans showed up to party at Colonel Summers Park with the amazing Kevin Sampsell of Future Tense Books. Against a backdrop of dogs playing fetch, men playing baseball, and couples holding hands, we were treated to some outstanding poetry and prose.

Two-time National Poetry Slam finalist, and former Portland Grand Slam champ, Eirean Bradley, gave a rousing, bawdy, and entertaining reading. He is the author of The I In Team.

Musician/poet Diana Salier, author of Letters From Robots and Wikipedia Says It Will Pass, was smart, funny, and sarcastically endearing.

Legs Get Led Astray author, Chloe Caldwell, read from her masterful collection of essays. I am a huge fan of this lady. Watch her – she’s going places.

  1. Thanks for posting this, Diane. I’ve been looking forward to reading Chloe’s essays and you reminded me to buy her collection. See you soon!

  2. Aahh, summer evenings, poetry, a glass of rosé, surrounded by like-minded appreciators, bliss!
